Third Annual Regional Critical Infrastructure

Interdependencies Seminar

The Third Annual Regional Critical Infrastructure Interdependencies Seminar held on December 13 and 14, 2007 at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington was a tremendous success. Stakeholders from around the region provided input, received briefings, and exchanged information on best practices for disaster resilience.

The event attracted nearly 300 participants from the public, private and non-profit sectors focusing on interdependencies among infrastructures, consequence of disruptions, and how to further improve regional resilience. Stakeholders were provided the chance to identify regional action items that need to be addressed in the areas of Freight Resilience; Intermodal Interdependencies; Supply Chain Resilience; Bridge Resilience; Information Sharing and Analysis Capability; and Pandemic Preparedness.

The Regional Disaster Resilience Risk Management and Mitigation Strategy for the Columbia River Basin workshop took place during the seminar on December 13. This workshop provided participants with an overview of the project and offered an opportunity to discuss and frame its focus and scope.  The workshop also created a cross-sector steering group of interested organizations for the project.

The seminar was supported by King County Office of Emergency Management. Other organizations supporting the event were, Microsoft, PEMCO Insurance, Safeway, WorkSafe Technologies, United Way of King County, and The Infrastructure Security Partnership, all of which contributed to the event.

The 2007 seminar provided the private, public and non-profit sectors the opportunity to learn more about planning for sector and regional disaster resilience. For more information on this event please click the link below.
