Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Users Group
Attention UAS / UAV / Drone Users
The Federal Aviation Administration is requesting comments on its policy for type certification of certain UAS as a special class of aircraft. Comments on the policy must be received on or before March 4, 2020. More information can be found here or on the Federal Register website. This is an important opportunity for the UAS Users community to provide input on future FAA regulation of UAS in the national airspace. Comments can be submitted online, by mail, fax, or hand delivered courier. The last day for comments is March 4, 2020 With the rapid advancement of the UAV technology and use, it is appropriate to establish an informal user’s group that includes both the public and private sector representatives and their associated organizations. The potential for collaboration and information sharing between the public and private sector UAV users is significant.
This user’s group would serve as a forum for the sharing of information between participating personnel and organizations. This user’s group is not for the purpose of replacing existing associations already in existence or usurping the legislatively mandated responsibilities of any one agency. Each state will have their own UAS Users Group which will partner with other local organizations to keep participants informed on current events and legislation pertaining to UAS. This will serve as a conduit for an exchange of information on state policies, and UAS governance best practices. |
