Drones (UAS/UAV)

The Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) and its Center for Regional Disaster Resilience (CRDR) were awarded 2017 and 2019 National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP) Security and Resilience Challenge grants for critical infrastructure. PNWER and the CRDR used these grants for two different projects with a focus on Unmanned Aircraft/Aerial Systems (UAS) or--as they are more commonly known--drones. The 2017 grant project sought to develop technologies for drone employment to technically inspect critical infrastructure in post-disaster scenarios. The 2019 grant project sought to develop methodologies to allow for the rapid inspection of critical infrastructure in post-disasters using drones. See below for more information on these grant projects as well as other drone-related work in which the CRDR is involved.
