Center for Regional Disaster Resilience Program Areas
The CRDR Program Areas foster cross-sector partnerships focused on the security and disaster resilience interdependent infrastructures. The initiatives focus on various threat scenarios that include regional cross-sector/cross-discipline workshops and exercises to better understand threats, interdependencies, and vulnerabilities. These stakeholder-vetted initiatives lead to action strategies for priority projects and activities. Through outreach and development of facilitated seminars, workshops, and targeted exercises, the CRDR raises awareness and enhances the level of preparedness of the region. The goal of the program areas is to build regional resilience through public and private partnerships and the development of resilience initiatives.

Attacks on Information Technology Systems are an ever-increasing threat in our world today. They come from a wide variety of sources, ranging from independent and organized criminals to nation states. Cyber attacks and security breaches cost the economy billions of dollars a year and can cause downtime and risk stoppage of vital services blocked by catastrophic system failure from weakened, critical infrastructure. The CRDR is committed to encouraging public-private partnerships and information-sharing in an effort to create a more protected and resilient region.

Regional resilience is critical to recovering from a disaster. Major part of recovery is the relationship between the private and public sectors. The CRDR works with all partners to showcase best practices on the ability to recover quickly for a disaster. Planning for the worst and learning from past events is a crucial component of the CRDR's mission. To deliver on this mission, the CRDR holds an annual Disaster Symposium in conjunction with the PNWER Annual Summit as well as supports recovery planning efforts in the region.

Recognizing that private industry, and non-governmental organizations constitute integral and essential components of every region, the CRDR acknowledges the need to coordinate for a bio-event across the healthcare sector and other organizations with roles in emergency management. This includes work in partnership with the private sector and other key regional stakeholders. Through this understanding, the CRDR actively engages in the public health sector and has led and participated in a number of pandemic and bio-event resilience initiatives.
